How we work

Editorial Policy

How Halvoryx researches, tests, writes, and reviews its content — and how we stay independent.

Last updated: June 12, 2026

Trust is the only thing that makes a technology publication worth reading. This page explains how we research, write, review, and maintain everything on Halvoryx — and how we keep our recommendations independent.

How we choose what to cover

We write about the tech problems real readers have: which phone or laptop is actually worth the money, whether an AI tool earns its subscription, how to lock down an account without a computer-science degree, and what's coming next that's worth caring about. Ideas come from our own use, reader questions, and recurring problems we see people struggle with. We do not chase launches for traffic's sake.

How we research, test, and write

Every article is written or edited by a named member of our team with direct, hands-on experience of the topic. When we recommend a device, app, or method, we have used it, set it up, or lived with it ourselves. We draw on primary sources — manufacturer specifications and documentation, hands-on testing, and recognised standards — rather than recycling what other sites say. Claims that depend on figures are linked to their source, and we note when something varies by region, model, or software version.

Editing and review

Before publication, each piece is reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and usefulness. We ask a simple question of every draft: would this genuinely help a reader choose, use, or secure their tech — or is it just filling space? If it is the latter, it does not run. We also check that security and privacy guidance is sound, and that we've flagged when to verify a detail or consult a professional.

How we make recommendations

Our recommendations are brand-agnostic and built on criteria, not endorsements. We start from the reader's problem and budget, not from a brand we'd like to promote. Sometimes the best answer is the cheaper option, last year's model, the free tool, or no purchase at all — and we'll say so. "Verify before you buy" is our default: we encourage readers to confirm current specs, prices, and compatibility with the manufacturer before spending.

Our use of AI tools

Our articles are written and edited by people. We may use software for spell-checking, research, or suggesting outlines, but a human writer is responsible for the substance, accuracy, and final wording of everything we publish. We do not publish auto-generated content, and we verify any AI-assisted research against primary sources.

Independence and advertising

Halvoryx is funded by advertising and, occasionally, affiliate links. To protect your trust:

  • We never accept payment to give a positive review or to feature a product in editorial content — there is no pay-for-coverage.
  • Advertising is clearly distinguishable from articles.
  • Affiliate relationships never change our verdict — see our disclaimer for the full disclosure.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do, we fix them quickly and transparently. If you spot an error or an out-of-date spec or price, email [email protected] or use our contact form. Substantive corrections are noted on the article.

Updates

Because products, software, and prices evolve, we revisit popular guides and refresh them. When an article is meaningfully updated, the publication date reflects the most recent revision.
